BIOGRAPHY

James trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and graduated in 2002. He made his professional debut at the National Theatre in Phyllida Lloyd's production of The Duchess of Malfi.

 

Since then he has worked in Theatre, TV, Film, Radio, Corporates and Voiceovers, and has worked for companies including the RSC, Donmar Warehouse, Manchester Royal Exchange, the BBC, ITV, and for voiceover clients including Sony, Jaguar and RBS. 

 

In 2008, James worked with the Donmar Warehouse in the West End, appearing in 'Ivanov' and 'Twelfth Night', both directed by Michael Grandage.

 

Following these two hugely successful productions, James joined the Royal Shakespeare Company's Long Ensemble from 2009-2011, working with Michael Boyd in 'As You Like It', Rupert Goold in 'Romeo and Juliet', Greg Doran in 'Morte D'Arthur' and Roxana Silbert in 'Little Eagles'.  The Ensemble culminated with a six week residency in New York, at the Park Avenue Armory, as part of the 2011 Lincoln Center Festival.

 

In 2014, James played Siegfried Sassoon in the UK National tour of "Not About Heroes" for Blackeyed Theatre Company.  He also worked on the feature film "Survivor", starring Pierce Brosnan and Milla Jovovich.

 

In Autumn 2015, James played Thomas the Director in James Dacre's produciton of "Brave New World" at Northampton Theatre Royal and on tour around the UK.

 

In February 2016, James began rehearsals for the new stage production of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", which opened at the Palace Theatre London on July 30th.

 

James played Draco Malfoy from 2017-2023.  The production is directed by John Tiffany.
